CHALLENGES OF CONVENTIONAL STORAGE

In an uncooled steel silo, physical laws become the enemy. During the day, sunlight heats the silo wall; at night, metal surfaces cool rapidly. This temperature fluctuation forces the air near the wall to condense its moisture. The resulting water droplets wet the outer grain layers, forming hot spots — pockets where microbial activity and insects multiply. Over time, these localized zones spread, producing self-heating, musty odor, and irreversible loss of quality.

Fumigation may kill insects temporarily, but it cannot undo biochemical decay. Each cycle of heating and cooling weakens grain vitality. Furthermore, condensation corrodes the inner silo wall, compounding structural and financial losses. In tropical regions, where day-night temperature swings and humidity are extreme, these effects become severe within weeks after harvest.

HOW THE SVALZ GRAINVAULT™ WORKS

Every Svalz Grain Vault features a precision-engineered refrigeration system. Filtered air is cooled and dehumidified, then gently circulated through the grain via existing aeration ducts for uniform temperature and controlled humidity.

The cold, dry air removes heat and moisture layer by layer, creating a “cooling front” until the grain is uniformly cooled. Intelligent controls monitor conditions and adjust automatically, switching to energy-efficient standby once the target temperature is reached.

Grain Vault delivers non-invasive precision, ensuring consistent and reliable results in any weather. Its advanced compressor, electronic expansion valve, and EC fan technology work together to provide strong performance, stable grain quality, and efficient, low-energy operation.
